23/7/2019 Eight for Wandjina

Newgate Farm resident Wandjina (Snitzel) sired his eighth individual first crop winner when Satin Rain (2 f ex Slippery Satin by Benicio) landed the Express Freight Maiden Handicap (1600m) at Goulburn yesterday. Trained by Anthony Cummings, the juvenile finished fifth on her first two outings prior to running second at Warwick Farm, and she duly built on that form fourth-up when pulling half a length clear of Dip Me Lid (Helmet) in second, with Express Courier (Foxwedge) a further three and a quarter lengths adrift in third. Wandjina will stand for an unchanged fee of $22,000 (inc GST) in 2019 having covered 125 mares at that cost last year, while his first crop of two-year-olds includes the stakes-placed trio of Grand Scholar, Deep Chill and Express Pass.
