Chris Waller has made five nominations for the Tattersall’s Tiara (Gr 1, 1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday as he tries to secure his 18th Group 1 success of the season in the final top tier contest of the campaign. Waller has already saddled a record-breaking 17 Group 1 winners this season, headlined by Winx’s (Street Cry) remarkable seven successes, and he has entered entered Prompt Response (Beneteau), who won last year’s Tiara when trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, as well as Eckstein (I Am Invincible), Egg Tart (Sebring), Invincibella (I Am Invincible) and Noire (Fozwedge) in the $500,000 contest this weekend, for which a total of 33 nominations were received.
In other Tiara news, Princess Posh (Canford Cliffs) has reported to have done well since her late scratching from the Stradbroke Handicap (Gr 1, 1400m) and will make her fourth outing in Group 1 company on Saturday. The Kris Leestrained mare was considered a top lightweight hope in the Stradbroke after her second to The Bostonian (Jimmy Choux) in the Kingsford-Smith Cup (Gr 1, 1300m), but she was an eleventh-hour scratching from the contest having been judged to be lame. However, Princess Posh worked on the course proper between races at Doomben on Wednesday and pulled up in good order. "She ran a smart time at Doomben and the vet went over her and gave a thumbs-up," Lees' Queensland manager Mel Eggleston said. "She is bucking her brand off up here. Kris believes a month between runs won't do her any harm."
