3/10/2019 Surprise Baby after cup berth

Adelaide Cup (Gr 2, 3200m) winner Surprise Baby (Shocking) will attempt to secure a guaranteed start in the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) via The Bart Cummings (Gr 3, 2520m) at Flemington on Saturday. The lightly raced five-year-old, who is trained by Paul Preusker at Horsham, ran fourth first-up in the Feehan Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) at Moonee Valley a month ago. "He's going super and I'm really looking forward to getting Saturday behind us and hopefully getting the ticket in," Preusker said. "He's furnished a bit more since the last prep and is a bit more tractable. The work has gone into him and he can come back now and race a bit softer so he could go forward, he could go back, it will be a matter of riding the race. He'll get the 2500 metres no worries, it's just luck in running that will stop him."

In early betting markets, Surprise Baby has been well supported from $2.90 into $2.60.For Best Odds, Get your
