24/10/2019 14 for Smart Missile

The Twin Hills Stud-based stallion Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) sired his 14th stakes winner yesterday when the Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained Smart Coupe (5 m ex Coupe by Spinning World) ran out a convincing winner of the Breeze Retirement Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Geelong. The five-year-old mare stayed on strongly in the closing stages to beat Gina’s Hope (Written Tycoon) by just over a length with Into The Abyss (Foxwedge) another nose away in third. Purchased by her trainers and owner First Light Racing for $22,000 at the Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale from the Grenville Stud draft, Smart Coupe joins the likes of Group 1 Maid Of Heaven and Group 2-winning pair I’ll Have A Bit and Smart Melody as the stallion’s other stakes winners. Smart Missile stands for a fee of $22,000 (inc GST)
