12/8/2019 Daughter of Sepoy elevates herself in Godolphin world order

Champion mare Alizee makes G2 Missile Stakes her eighth Stakes success

Already one of Australia’s best racehorses, star Australian mare Alizee won herself wider recognition with a game victory in Saturday’s G2 Missile Stakes at Rosehill over 1200m.

The success was Alizee’s eighth at Stakes level, placing her equal second on Godolphin’s all-time list of black-type winners behind only the recently-retired and Darley stallion Blue Point (nine SWs).

The daughter of Sepoy, the winner of three G1 races, also represents one of Australia’s finest families, her dam Essaouira (Exceed And Excel) having produced five winners from her only five to race, including the G1 winner and Darley stallion Astern and the explosive three-year-old colt Tassort (Brazen Beau).

It is also the family of Triscay, the winner of 15 races, five of them at G1 level.

While the Missile was won by a conservative margin, Alizee began her run 600m from home and was clearly going to benefit from the run, her first since April.

After passing the 200m with a two-length lead, jockey Hugh Bowman allowed Alizee to run to the line under her own steam to score by a neck.

Sepoy is standing the current southern hemisphere season at Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of A$11,000, including GST.
