16/1/2020 First for Rock Hero

Lauriston Park-based stallion Rock Hero (Fastnet Rock) sired his first winner yesterday when Bellx (3 f ex Aythreeeighty by Scenic) broke her maiden in a 1500-metre contest at Mornington. “It was a good win by the filly and hopefully there are many more to come,” Chris Bakker of Lauriston Park said. “Rock Hero serves limited numbers every year because he is not a multi-Group 1 winner, we don’t stand at one of the major farms and he is not backed by massive people. He is a beautiful horse and has got a great temperament, upgrades his mares and he is going to have to do it the hard way, but that’s all right.” Rock Hero was the first foal out of the Group-winning mare Gallant Tess (Galileo) and was an impressive stakes-winner himself before injury ended his racing career prematurely.
