20/11/2019 The Velvet King draws six in Railway

The Darren Mcauliffe-trained The Velvet King (Universal Ruler) has drawn barrier six for Saturday’s Railway Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) at Ascot. The Northerly Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner is on the first line of betting with Ladbrokes  for the Group 1 at odds of $6.50. Last start Asian Beau Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner Samizdat (Not A Single Doubt) is rated a $7 chance after drawing barrier 3. Fellow $7 chance Tellem We’re Comin (Blackfriars), who will be looking to follow up his last start Northam Cup (Listed, 1600m) win, has drawn gate nine. The James Cummings-trained Best Of Days $9, (Azamour) has drawn barrier 11, with 16 set to line up in the $1 million race.
In other Railway stakes news,  the Kieran McDonagh-trained Cockney Crew (Maschino) is back on track for his tilt in the Railway Stakes on Saturday after a strong gallop at Ascot yesterday. “It was very good,” said McDonagh. “He worked with another horse and to watch him stretch away up the straight was very good - we’re very happy. It has been a very trying week with his foot, but he only missed a couple of days, so it was nothing major. But it was nice to watch him hit the line strongly and he should be right for Saturday fitness wise.” The four-year-old gelding has drawn barrier 14 for Saturday’s Group 1 and at $31.
