12/11/2019 Boost for Queensland winter two-year-old races

Racing Queensland hopes to further boost its winter carnival by substantially lifting prize- money for its three main two-year-old races. The $2.25 million Future Champions Series will be aimed directly at securing the best late season two-year-olds from around Australia. It will be a major part of a push to highlight the importance of the winter carnival with seven Group 1 winners in the southern spring carnivals this year coming through Brisbane. The Future races will be the $250,000 Champagne Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Doomben on May 9, the $1 million BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 23 and the $1 million JJ Atkins Plate (Gr 1, 1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 6. RQ chief executive Brendan Parnell said the honour roll across the three races included superstars such as The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice), Zoustar (Northern Meteor), Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible), Press Statement (Hinchinbrook) and Melody Belle (Commands).
