18/11/2019 Brazen Beau’s bold spring continues with Pretty Brazen’s G2 Sandown Guineas win

The promise shown by Pretty Brazen throughout her career had a Stakes-race reward when the filly won Saturday’s G2 Sandown Guineas, becoming her sire Brazen Beau’s sixth Stakes winner and continuing his lead on the second-season sires table this season ahead of Rubick and Deep Field.

Given a perfect run on the fence behind the leader, Pretty Brazen surged through on the inside at the 200m and held on bravely to score by a long-head from Conqueror with a further short-head to Heart Of Puissance.

A $700,000 purchase at the 2018 Inglis Easter Sale by her trainer Tony McEvoy, Pretty Brazen had always shown ability, winning three of her nine starts.

Her Guineas win provided proof of McEvoy’s sale-ring assessment with the filly now due to be rested over the summer.

Pretty Brazen, who is from the family of the G1 Golden Slipper winner Tontonan, also continued a successful spring for her sire, becoming his fourth Stakes winner since 1 August.

Brazen Beau stood his most recent southern hemisphere season at Northwood Park, Victoria at a service fee of $49,500.
