9/10/2018 Allen on Night’s Watch

Apprentice jockey Ben Allen looks primed to get the leg up on Night’s Watch (Redwood) in the Caulfield Cup and will also be aboard the last-start Group 3 winner when he lines up in the Caulfield Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) on Saturday. Last spring, Allen steered Lord Fandango (Lord Of England) to an impressive fourth in the Caulfield Cup and looks to have a great chance again in the 2400 metre contest with the fellow OTI-owned Night's Watch. "I am really excited about the next two weeks, just knowing that you have quality rides coming up and I’m hoping I can get my first group one out of the way whilst still being an apprentice," Allen told "Night's Watch has got a light weight [52kg] in the Caulfield Cup and I'm pretty certain I'll be riding him. In his work now he's pretty push button…off his work last Monday at Ballarat I think he'll be right up there in the Caulfield Stakes."

In early betting for the Caulfield Cup Night's Watch is $10 with Ladbrokes.
