28/6/2019 Wet Track to help Niccanova

Trainer Steve Tregea hopes a wet track can help Niccanova (Nicconi) break a long losing run when the gelding takes his chance in the Glasshouse Handicap (Listed, 1400m) at the Sunshine Coast tomorrow. Niccanova has not saluted the judge since his victory in the Recognition Stakes (Listed, 1350m) in November and he will jump from barrier six with James Orman booked to take the ride. “The track is rated well in the heavy range and even with the forecast fine Saturday it will still be rain-affected,” Tregea said. “He is two wins from two starts on heavy tracks and three wins from four starts on soft going. Niccanova didn’t have much luck when beaten in the Wayne Wilson Mile last start and coming back to 1400 metres won’t hurt him.”
