15/3/2019  Wet track a boost for Jamaican Rain

Trainer Richard Laming is hoping the forecast wet weather arrives in time for last-start Group 3 winner Jamaican Rain (Manhattan Rain) ahead of her tilt at the Coolmore Classic (registered as TAD Kennedy Stakes) (Gr 1, 1500m) at Rosehill tomorrow. The mare has won five of her six starts on rain-affected tracks, including the Glasshouse Handicap (Listed, 1400m) at the Sunshine Coast in June. “Although she has won on hard tracks she can really quicken on a heavy track which some horses can’t do,” Laming said. “Her work has been absolutely A-1, she’s tightened right up and she’s right where we want her to be heading into a Group 1.” Glen Boss will be aboard the six-year-old, who will carry 52.5 kilograms.
In early betting markets, Jamaican Rain has been well supported from $8.50 into $7.50. Check out the latest Coolmore Classic betting market.
