2/1/2020 Grand Scholar no Gold Coast certainty

Tony McEvoy will walk the Gold Coast track this morning as part of a decision-making process on whether his filly Grand Scholar (Wandjina) will run on Saturday. Grand Scholar has accepted for the $250,000 Magic Millions Rising Stars Fillies and Mares (1300m) with the race pencilled in as a chance for her to qualify for the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (RL, 1400m) on Saturday week. "I scratched her last week when she drew barrier 23. Now she has barrier 16," McEvoy said. "I am not keen to give her a gutbuster a week before a big race, but I might not have any choice. I want to have a really good look at the order of entry and see our chances of a start without running Saturday. Another alternative is to look at our chances of getting a run in the fillies and mares race on Millions day."

In early Gold Coast betting markets Grand Scholar is the $2.90 favourite. Check out the latest betting markets.
