23/6/2019 Eight for Epaulette

Darley-based stallion Epaulette (Commands) sired his eighth stakes winner yesterday when the James Cummings-trained Kordia (2 g ex Cherry Lodge by Grand Lodge) landed the Winning Edge Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Eagle Farm. The two-year-old gelding finished with a flourish to beat Big Parade (Deep Field) by a quarter of a length with another short-head back to Snazz 'N' Charm (Snitzel) in third. Epaulette, who is a half-brother to his former barnmate Helmet (Exceed And Excel), will stand the upcoming breeding season at Darley’s Kelvinside base for a fee of $27,500 (inc GST). Cummings was quick to show his admiration for the stallion after Kordia’s victory: "We've got a lot of young stallions on the roster and Epaulette is one of the horses that is starting to shoot the lights out and that's great for us to see," he said.
