21/11/2019 Dr Drill in Ballarat cup bid

Co-trainer David Eustace hopes the long term plan to aim Dr Drill (Dansili) at the Ballarat Cup (Listed, 2000m) can come to fruition when the gelding tackles the race on Saturday. Eustace said the plan to aim the four-year-old at the $500,000 event has been the plan since his victory in the Cranbourne Cup (Listed, 2050m). "This race has been the plan since he won the Cranbourne Cup," Eustace said. "The $500,000 is a good carrot. It's Group 1 prize money and it's essentially an open handicap. He's had a good preparation and he's probably due a break after Saturday and then we can look towards the autumn I would say." Dr Drill has barrier one and could be joined by stablemate Etana in Saturday's race. With 20 acceptors for Saturday's race, Etana (Shamus Award) is first emergency.

In early betting for the Ballarat Cup, Dr Drill has been well supported from $4.20 into $3.90.
