25/2/2020 Catalyst ready for Guineas

Clayton Chipperfield is confident Catalyst (Darci Brahma) can turn the tables on his CS Hayes Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) conqueror Alligator Blood (All Too Hard) in Saturday’s Australian Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m), with New Zealand’s star three-year-old set to meet his old rival on one kilogram better terms under set weight conditions. “He's third-up now. We're meeting them at equal weights and he's been looking for a mile,” Chipperfield said. “He's only had the one mile Group 1 race in New Zealand and won it very easily, with the best final 600 metres he's ever run. Hopefully we can get a decent track on Saturday and we'll see that brilliance he's got in the finish that we didn't really see in the Hayes because of the rain and the downgrade of the track.” Regarding Catalyst’s final preparations, Chipperfield continued: “I gave him an easy gallop on Saturday and he went unbelievable. I'm very, very happy with him. He'll be at his peak for the Guineas.”
