15/11/2019 Banquo given Guineas chance

Trainer Danny O’Brien expects last-start Hilton Stakes (Listed, 1400m) winner Banquo (Written Tycoon) to ‘run really well’ in tomorrow’s Sandown Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m). The three-year old colt, who is a brother to Group 1-winning sprinter Booker, is owned by some high-powered New Zealand breeders including Lib Petagna and Mark and Garry Chittick. "He's a horse we only got after he had had a couple of runs in the winter, so we gave him a spell and had an open mind on him all spring," O'Brien said of Banquo. "He's made really good progress and come a long way in a short time. We think he's a really nice colt so when he pulled up well from last week it's an obvious one to run him in this race. He's a horse that's on the up." Craig Williams takes over from the suspended Damien Oliver on Banquo.
