16/11/2020 Ballarat Cup worth One More Try

Matt Cumani is hoping all the pieces can fall into place for One More Try (Dane Shadow) in Saturday’s Ballarat Cup (Listed, 2000m), with the mare winless since 2018 after continuously letting herself down at the start. Ballarat trainer Cumani believes the six-year-old, who this season has come from last to third in the Stocks Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) and finished fourth after giving away a big start in the Matriarch Stakes (Gr 2, 2000m), has the talent to dominate at this level if she can get a clean break. “If only she could break well and find a midfield position, she’d be near unbeatable at this level but unfortunately she keeps giving away her starts,’’ Cumani told Racing.com. “But she’s got a huge amount of ability. It’s just being slow into stride means she’s giving herself so much more work to do.”
