30/12/2018 Alizee returns with decisive victory

The highly-anticipated return of Alizee (4 m Sepoy - Essaouira by Exceed and Excel) went exactly to plan at Randwick yesterday with the mare exhibiting her class to land the Christmas Classic (Listed, 1200m). A dual Group 1 winner as a threeyear-old, Alizee missed the spring after serving a mandatory ban for bleeding in trackwork, and returned yesterday to beat Husson Eagle (Husson) by a length and a half, with last start Razor Sharp (Listed, 1200m) winner Fell Swoop (Not A Single Doubt) a further length and a quarter behind in third. Alizee could now head to the Expressway Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Rosehill on February 2 before a possible tilt at the inaugural $5 million All Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington.
