Final Results For Easter 2016

11th Apr 2016

Results have been finalised from the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where 437 yearlings have been sold to 213 buyers, many forming new partnerships to race at the highest level.

Session I has finished with 347 lots sold at an outstanding average of $284,200, median of $200,000 and clearance rate of 84 per cent. 90 lots have been sold in Session II at a clearance rate of 79 per cent, average of $88,722 and median price of $75,000.

Yearlings by Frankel, Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral, Choisir and Star Witness have been sold post-sale since Friday morning taking Easter’s overall gross to $106,602,500.

Cressfield’s colt by Frankel from Buenos Aires (Lot 217) will head into the Victorian stable of Robbie Laing after the youngster was purchased for $500,000 by owners Ray and Susie Montague.

50 yearlings sold for $500,000 or more at Easter 2016, well clear of the combined results from all other major Australian and New Zealand yearling sales.

“On behalf of Inglis I would like to thank all breeders, vendors, stud staff and buyers for the professional manner they all handled themselves last week for what was a tremendous edition of the Easter Sale,” said Inglis National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

“We had the pleasure of welcoming some the world’s biggest owners to the sale and their feedback over the quality of yearlings offered has been very positive, as can be seen in the results.

“It is also very encouraging to see so many Australian trainers and syndicators filling their stables with yearlings from the sale, giving them the greater opportunities that come with buying an Easter graduate,” added D’Arcy.

Over 150 yearlings were knocked down to trainers licensed in Australia spanning New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and the ACT.

29 yearlings were purchased by the following syndicators at Easter 2016, more than double the 13 lots they purchased as a group in 2015; Champion Thoroughbreds (6 lots in 2016), Darby Racing (3), Dynamic Syndications (2), First Light Racing (4), Ontrack Thoroughbreds (4), Proven Thoroughbreds (2), Spicer Thoroughbreds (4), Star Thoroughbreds (2) and Triple Crown Syndications (2).
