8/6/2017 Wyong Races Tips and Preview

By Gary Harley

Sydney’s premiership leader Brenton Avdulla will carry plenty of punters money when he travels up the M1 for five mounts at Thursday’s Wyong race meeting. Avdulla will be aboard three early favourites Special Missile (race 1), Steyne (race 3) and Tawfiq Boy (race 4). He also rides second favourite Piracy in race 2 and the well fancied Chicago Stomp in race 5.

RACE 1 (FIGTREE ESTATE MAIDEN PLATE, 1350m): Special Missile was a close third first-up at Kembla after a tough run on May 23. He was caught three-wide without cover and only tired in the last bit. He has been placed on a soft track. Mo The Great ran on strong late when a close second in his second race start at Newcastle recently. Sunset Jewel has been runner-up in two of his three starts the latest on this track three weeks ago.
SELECTIONS: 6 SPECIAL MISSILE, 5 MO THE GREAT, 7 SUNSET JEWEL

RACE 2 (SORENSEN REAL ESTATE MAIDEN, 1100m): Goresbridge is on debut after winning his last three trials on soft tracks. Two of the trials were in December but the most recent was two weeks ago at Rosehill. He has shown speed in all three trials and he wasn’t pressured in the last trial. Piracy’s race form is not good, however, he was an easy Randwick trial winner recently. Sulaymanee wasn’t far away at Hawkesbury last start and he should run well.
SELECTIONS: 1 GORESBRIDGE, 3 PIRACY, 5 SULAYMANEE

RACE 3 (GOSFORD CLASSIC CAR MUSEUM CL2, 1350m): Kitteau will appreciate a drop in class and has been placed on a soft track. He finished fourth at Canterbury last start after racing ungenerously in the race before shifting in and contacting the rail at the 500m. He was narrowly beaten on this track three starts back. Steyne resumes here after winning two on the trot at Kembla and Canberra before a spell. I Wanna Be A Jeep never got clear when beaten 2.8 lengths at Rosehill last start.
SELECTIONS: 2 KITTEAU, 3 STEYNE, 5 I WANNA BE A JEEP

RACE 4 (BISHOP COLLINS AUDIT BM60, 1100m): Tawfiq Boy has good wet track form and he strikes a winnable race. He has had a freshen up and he wasn’t far away in a strong recent Wyong trial. From barrier 2 he should have a cosy run in transit. Cultural man has won on a soft track and he trialled nicely here recently. Epic Dan is another local with good country form and he has won on heavy and soft tracks.
SELECTIONS: 3 TAWFIQ BOY, 1 CULTURAL MAN, 2 EPIC DAN

RACE 5 (SITE ENGINEERING CL2, 1600m): Chicago Storm is fitter after three starts for the new stable. He is a soft track winner and capable of sharp improvement in this field. Zijin Cheng has a win and two placings from his past four starts and has won two races on wet tracks. Another Larga is another which could improve.
SELECTIONS: 2 CHICAGO STOMP, 4 ZIJIN CHENG, 3 ANOTHER LARGA

RACE 6 (COASTAL LINER COACHES TOURING MAIDEN, 1100m): Hamiko has been placed in her past two starts and she has the speed to overcome a tricky draw. She has been placed on wet tracks and finished second in her only start on this track. Danubian has a wide draw but has good form for this race. She was only beaten half a length by Frolic when fourth at Newcastle on debut in January. In her second start she wasn’t far away at Canterbury recently. Our Girl Hollie was only beaten a length first-up at Warwick Farm a week ago.
SELECTIONS: 2 HAMIKO, 9 DANUBIAN, 4 OUR GIRL HOLLIE

RACE 7 (COASTAL TRANSPORT SERVICES BM60, 1100m): Springer has had two starts for a debut win at Wyong in February and a close fourth at Hawkesbury. She trialled nicely at Warwick Farm recently and her breeding suggests will handle a wet track. Lindy Lou hasn’t raced for 16 months but she has had four recent trials. She is a smart mare if fit. Bite The Media is racing well and likes wet tracks.
SELECTIONS: 5 SPRINGER, 2 LINDY LOU, 9 BITE THE MEDIA

RACE 8 (EZY ACCES HIRE BM70, 1350m): Ghostly is flying and is well in with the apprentice’s claim. He bolted in at Canterbury last start after a close third in a strong race at the Scone Carnival. He has heavy and soft track form. Validate was an easy Gosford winner last start and she has won on a wet track. Hammoon Dream has a place chance.
SELCETIONS: 1 GHOSTLY, 7 VALIDATE, 5 HAMMOON DREAM
