31/8/2017 Wyong Friday Racing Tips
By Gary Harley
Imported stayer Sayed is set to give champion trainer Chris Waller another Carlton Mid Wyong Cup Victory on Friday. Waller has trained five of the past seven Wyong Cup winners. They were Hawk Island (2010), The Verminator (2011), Wazn (2013), Multilateral (2014) and Beyond Thankful (2015).
Sayed is a slightly raced 5 year old with five wins and four placings from twelve starts. The gelding is a stout stayer which won a Randwick Benchmark 85 over 2400 metres on August 5 and last start on the same track Sayed was nailed on the post by Auvray.
Gai Waterhouse won the Wyong Cup in 2012 with Julienas and the partnership of Adrian Bott and Waterhouse will be represented by former Kiwi stayer Dee I Cee a brilliant last start winner of the Rosehill Premiers Cup. He was runner up in last year’s Newcastle Cup.
Top weight Destiny’s Kiss has won more than $1 mill on the track and his first up fourth in the Premiers Cup was full of merit. Twelve of his fifteen wins have been on rain affected tracks.
RACE 1 BIOCHEM WATER MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
Showtime is very well weighted under the set weight conditions and he is a class above these. He was placed in the Group 2 Silver Slipper in February and he finished fourth in the Group 2 Todman. First up at Canterbury recently the colt chased a smart one when second under 60 kilograms.
Silverwin was only beaten two lengths in his only start at Warwick Farm in October and he won a recent Rosehill trial.
Explosive Missile will improve on his debut fourth at Kembla.
SELECTIONS: 8 SHOW TIME 4 SILVERWIN 1 EXPLOSIVE MISSILE
RACE 2 SENPOS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
African Rainbow resumes and her two year old form suggests she should be too classy for this field. The filly had no luck when beaten 2 lengths by Debonairly in the black type Woodlands at the Scone Cup Carnival in May. She was only beaten a head at Warwick Farm last start in June.
Torvill was narrowly beaten at Gosford last start and she was 2 ½ lengths away when fourth in the Sweet Embrace in February.
Mystic Empire was disappointing first up here but she was only beaten half a length in the Group 3 Widden in January.
SELECTIONS 3 AFRICAN RAINBOW 8 TORVILL 7 MYSTIC EMPIRE
RACE 3 HUNTER PETROLEUM PRODUCTS DA VINCI 1300m
Princess Posh was game when beaten 1 ½ lengths by the speedy Cudabeen first up at Canterbury recently. The mare has won second up and she was only half a length away from Noble Joey in the Provincial Championship Qualifier on this track in February.
Schubert has been placed in his past two starts at Canterbury and Warwick Farm. He has blinkers for the first time.
Pindara won well first up at Gosford and she has a chance.
SELECTIONS: 1 PRINCESS POSH 4 SCHUBERT 3 PINDARA
RACE 4 BISHOP COLLINS ACCOUNTANTS BM 65 1600m
Tatoosh ran on strongly when beaten a length at Warwick Farm last start. He has raced well without winning this prep and this is a winnable race for the gelding.
Concisely is knocking on the door after two close up runs this prep. She has blinkers this time and they may do the trick.
Coys bolted in at Gosford two starts back and he was an easy Warwick Farm trial winner recently.
SELECTIONS: 3 TATOOSH 4 CONCISELY 2 COYS
RACE 5 THE DOYLO SPRINGTIME BM 75 1100m
Rosa Carolina is a speedy mare with a good first up record. She was runner up in two Randwick starts earlier this year. She has had the benefit of two recent trials.
Golden Shoes is a last start Canterbury winner and despite the big weight and adverse barrier he cannot be dismissed.
Another Aan is talented and he will be running on from the back.
SELECTIONS: 6 ROSA CAROLINA 1 GOLDEN SHOES 5 ANOTHER AAN
RACE 6 WINNING COMMERCIAL MONA LISA STAKES 1350m
A terrific race in which most of the chances clashed in the Group 3 Toy Show at Randwick on August 19. Sweet Redemption won the Toy Show and she is the one to beat again. She led all the way first up and from her nice barrier the mare will be hard to run down.
Imposing Lass was narrowly beaten in the Toy Show and she has a very good second up record.
Rocket Commander was less than a length from Sweet Redemption in the Toy Story and she wasn’t tested in the final stages.
SELECTIONS: 1 SWEET REDEMPTION 2 IMPOSING LASS 3 ROCKET COMMANDER
RACE 7 CARLTON MID WYONG GOLD CUP 2100m
Chris Waller’s in form stayer Sayed is in top form and with the light weight and McEvoy aboard he has a great chance. The gelding has three wins and two seconds from his past five starts and he is a strong stayer with experience on the Wyong track.
Dee I Cee bolted in with last Saturdays Premiers Cup and he was narrowly beaten in last year’s Newcastle Cup.
Destiny’s Kiss went well first up in the Premiers Cup and although his best form is on wet tracks he has a chance.
SELECTIONS: 6 SAYED 2 DEE I CEE 1 DESTINY’S KISS
RACE 8 HC GROUP Cl 2 HANDICAP 1200m
Raiden is pretty smart and he won a recent Gosford Maiden by a big space. He was a good thing beaten first up at Port Macquarie and his two city runs last prep were creditable.
Piracy is a last start Warwick Farm winner and he trialled well recently.
Never Out won well at Gosford last start and is very consistent.
SELECTIONS: 3 RAIDEN 7 PIRACY 4 NEVER OUT
