4/8/2017 Wyong Friday Tips
By Gary Harley

Two-time Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy will be aboard five well-fancied gallopers at Friday's Wyong race meeting. In race order, McEvoy’s rides are Balearic (Race 2), Masterati (Race 3), Seventhchic (Race 5), Tamarack (Race 6) and Crafty Tycoon (Race 7).

The Chris Waller-trained Seventhchic looks the best of the popular hoops mounts in the BJ Howes Metaland Class 2 (1600m). The mare won a Benchmark 72 at Warwick Farm in June and she wasn’t far away on the same track two weeks ago. Crafty Tycoon was very unlucky when a beaten favourite at Wyong on July 13 and a drop in weight and a soft barrier should see him atone.

RACE 1 (PRIORITY BUSINESS LAWYERS METRO & PROV MAIDEN, 1600m): Taikomochi finished third in a strong Kembla maiden first-up recently and he will be hard to run down here. He has shown speed in both starts to date and from barrier one and first attempt at 1600 he will lead. The Potato Pontiff was runner-up after leading at Gosford last start and he will go forward from this draw. Gacela showed improvement when a close second at Scone last start.
SELECTIONS: 1 TAIKOMOCHI, 2 THE POTATO PONTIFF, 3 GACELA

RACE 2 (BISHOP COLLINS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS MAIDEN, 1350m): Stone’s city form is good enough to win this. He finished fourth behind two crack youngsters at Rosehill last start. He was beaten half a length at Warwick Farm two starts back and he wasn’t far away on debut at Canterbury. Island Missile had excuses when placed on debut at Canterbury recently and the blinkers go on. Boomtown Rat is on debut but is trialling well.
SELECTIONS: 4 STONE, 3 ISLAND MISSILE, 2 BOOMTOWN RAT

RACE 3 (HUNDRED PERCENT TILING MAIDEN, 1100m): Dazzles has been placed in her past four starts and she is well placed here. She was beaten by a subsequent winner at Newcastle last start and she is an on-pacer. Wander was narrowly beaten in a strong Rosehill trial recently after coming from back. Masterati’s race form isn’t flash but his recent trials have been okay.
SELECTIONS: 3 DAZZLES, 4 WANDER, 1 MASTERATI

RACE 4 (FARRAR LEGAL 4YO & UP MAIDEN, 1350m): Nyah has been placed in 6 of her 10 starts and this is a winnable race. She gets back in her races but is a strong finisher. The mare was placed in her only start here. I Love Buddy was placed first up in a strong Newcastle Maiden last start and he will be better for the run. Chayanne is first up on the back of a solid trial.
SELECTIONS: 8 NYAH, 1 I LOVE BUDDY, 4 CHAYANNE

RACE 5 (BJ HOWES METALAND CL 2, 1600m): Seventhchic has good metropolitan form and she ticks all the boxes. The mare was successful at Warwick Farm three starts back and she was placed on the same track last start. Stablemate Liffy is the main threat after a Kembla win and a last start Warwick Farm placing. Gone With The Wind is a leader with a place chance.
SELECTIONS: 2 SEVENTHCHIC, 3 LIFFY, 1 GONE WITH THE WIND

RACE 6 (INSURANCE HOUSE CL 1, 1200m): Never Out is knocking on the door and she is beautifully placed in this race. The mare has been narrowly beaten in her past two starts on this track and Berry rides. Tamarack was a close second on this track on debut in February and he should sprint well fresh. Dynamic Bid is a last start Goulburn winner and could lead.
SELECTIONS: 2 NEVER OUT, 1 TAMARACK, 4 DYNAMIC BID

RACE 7 (WIDELINE WINDOWS & DOORS BM 65, 1300m): Crafty Tycoon was very unlucky on this track three weeks ago. He met with interference two or three times in the home straight before going down by 1.3 lengths. Two starts back he was impressive in winning at Goulburn. Roeinda drops in class and she can improve. Klisstra is a recent Canterbury placegetter with a chance.
SELECTIONS: 8 CRAFTY TYCOON, 4 ROEINDA, 7 KLISSTRA

RACE 8 (BLUEBERRY EVENTS BM 60, 1100m): Prince Dylan is ready to win after two solid placings this prep. He is a front runner and was narrowly beaten by a subsequent metropolitan winner last start. Satirical Dame is a last start Wyong winner and must be considered. Ribands has had two wins and three placings from his last five starts.
SELECTIONS: 4 PRINCE DYLAN, 7 SATIRICAL DAME, 5 RIBANDS
