11/10/2017 Alizee favourite for Thousand Guineas

The Godolphin-raced Alizee (Sepoy) remains a strong favourite for the Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) at Caulfield on Saturday after drawing barrier two in the eight-runner field.
The rapidly progressive three-year-old, who was an impressive winner of the Flight Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) on 30 September, heads the betting at $2.15 with Ladbrokes and worked at Caulfield yesterday morning. "I'm delighted with her and as far as her work this morning goes, it was perfect for her," Cummings said. "I
still expect that she'll be a little lost at Caulfield on the weekend but you certainly couldn't have expected her to do any better this morning."
Meanwhile Group Two winner Shoals (Fastnet Rock) drew barrier four for the Thousand Guineas
yesterday and pleased jockey Mark Zahra in a gallop at Caulfield yesterday morning.
Currently the second favourite at $4.60, the Anthony Freedman-trained filly worked nicely in blinkers, with the headgear set to replace her usual winkers this weekend. "She worked very sharply in them," Zahra said. "I just wanted to see whether she would overdo it in them, which she didn't. She was sharp enough but relaxed enough."
