7/6/2018 Six for Shamus Award

Widden Stud-based first season stallion Shamus Award (Snitzel) sired his sixth juvenile winner when the Michael Costa trained Malahide (2 f ex Lady Millions by Charge Forward) won impressively at the Gold Coast yesterday. An $85,000 purchase by Costa at the 2017 Magic MIllions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale from the Tyreel Stud draft, Malahide took on older horses at her first start to win the Pink Ribbon Cup Maiden (1200m) by two and a quarter lengths over Dafeenah (Husson), with Boingo (Helmet) another lengths and a quarter back in third. Malahide joins winners including Bronski Beat, Shamino and Ginuhit Ng Tadhana as winners for Shamus Award, who will stand for a fee of $11,000 in 2018.
