22/1/2018 Second for Fighting Sun

Sun Stud-based first crop stallion Fighting Sun (Northern Meteor) sired his second juvenile winner and first Australian winner when Sunfighter (2 c ex Sky Flyte by Darci Brahma) won his first start at Wyong yesterday. Trained by Brad Widdup and ridden by Christian Reith, Sunfighter has been given three barrier trials, two of them this preparation, before showing speed to sit outside the lead in a two-year-old
open handicap (1100m) to win by a length over the fast-finishing Sunreel (Dundeel). Fighting Sun sired his first winner earlier this month with the New Zealand-trained Platinum Mam’selle successful at Trentham. Fighting Sun stood for a fee of $13,750 (inc GST) in 2017.
