16/5/2018  Ambitious in peak condition ahead of Doomben Cup

Grade Two winner Ambitious (Deep Impact) will be out to add a Group One to his CV when he runs in the Doomben Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) on Saturday. The six-year-old entire will be having his fourth start in Australia with his best performance coming when finishing second in the Tancred Stakes (Gr 1, 2400m) and will be looking to bounce back from a lacklustre display in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) last month. "We certainly think he's got a very good chance of winning a race like this," Freedman's racing manager Brad Taylor told Racing. com. "We put him in the QE thinking he was a good chance after his run in the Tancred, but he didn't get all favours - he lost three shoes in running in the QE, which doesn't help any horses. If everything goes to plan on Saturday, he should be a big chance."
